A Rose By Any Other Name…

By Shanna Katz

As of late, there has been a lot of discussion around the new Google+ policy of requiring “real names” from all of its’ users, which seems to have morphed into the requirement of “legal names.” There isn’t any exact and specific policy that defines a “real” name, and thousands of people have lost their profiles

Rebuilding the Barter System

By Shanna Katz

Something I truly love about being a member of smaller communities is that for the most part, we look after our own. When someone needs a ride to an event, people band together to help them out. YKINMK…and I’d Like to Learn More

By Shanna Katz

Let’s look a little at opening our minds, and looking towards learning more about the wants, needs and kinks of others in the community.

Don’t Make An A-S-S out of M-E

By Shanna Katz

Howdy There Partner

By Shanna Katz

Sometimes, the English language just fails me. Aside from the ridiculous issue of pronouns (I mean, really, do we need to have masculine and feminine pronouns when we conjugate everything in neutrality anyways?

By Shanna Katz

I play along and am a members of multiple societies and organizations in my field (thanks to my job helping with the costs) and I am a board certified sexologist. All of these things are great, but there are some days when I just can’t handle the academia

Multiple Identities = Multiple Forms of Oppression

By Shanna Katz

I’m part of the LGBTQ community. Sometimes it isn’t that great; I have less rights than many members of our society, I can be fired just for being queer in many states, and while hate crimes laws exist, it doesn’t prohibit bullying of folks like me, the stares, being yelled at and told I’m sinning, and so on.

Policing Our Communities

By Shanna Katz

I love being queer, and most of the time, I love the queer community. However, I don’t like the policing that often goes on inside the queer community, and I’m now seeing similar policing happening in the kink community, and I’m sorry, but I think it is poppy cock!

I Am Who I AM

By Shanna Katz

When I lived in Denver, I was lucky enough to be a fairly active member of the thriving kink community – multiple dungeons, in a kink family, throwing my own queer and women/trans play parties. At times, I was an anomaly in certain spaces;
